Can I see my child in lockdown or tier restrictions?

The government guidance, which was updated in January 2021, has always allowed for children under the age of 18 to travel between parents who live in separate homes.

This applies whilst we are in national lockdown and in periods of tier restrictions, even if the parents live in areas with differing tiers. Overnight stays are permitted within this.

The usual precautions should be taken if anyone in either house is showing symptoms of a dry cough or temperature or have been asked to self-isolate by the track & trace scheme. In which case, children will have to self isolate in the house where they are currently staying and consideration should be given to other means of contact such as telephone or video calls.

Full details of the guidance can be found on the Gov website.
