Updated prescribed forms for seeking possession from residential tenants

Residential landlords with Assured Shorthold Tenancies should be aware that the Government have now published new prescribed forms Section 8 and Section 21 notices.

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government have made these changes in-line with the reduced notice periods required for seeking possession from residential tenants now that Covid measures are easing. From the 1st June 2021 until 30th September 2021 the notice period for most notices seeking possession of a residential property, subject to an assured or an assured shorthold tenancy, is reduced from 6 months to 4 months.

Guidance notes to accompany the forms have also been updated inline with the forms.
