A workshop in networking for WiTT

Our Women in Torbay and Totnes group was excited to welcome Cathi Jones back into the fold this week when she attended as a speaker, having left behind a career in law to become a WW Coach.

Cathi returned to deliver a very well-received talk on “Networking Fears Busted.”  Cathi’s talk was informal, relatable and funny, reassuring us all that you don’t have to be a ‘networking machine’ to make the most out of the opportunities that networking provides.  She also gave those attending a few crucial dos and don’ts when it comes to the perfect handshake, and hopefully left everyone feeling that networking is not something to be afraid of after all.  One of the strengths of the WITT events is that the people who attend are all highly supportive of each other as fellow women in business; Cathi’s talk reiterated that when it comes to nerves and networking, we are all in it together.  We also saw several business cards and telephone numbers being exchanged at the end of the morning, so it seems that any networking fears were indeed well and truly busted.  We call that a success all round.

With prizes generously donated from our venue host Pier Point and several attendees; the raffle raised funds for the Louisa Cary Ward at Torbay Hospital.  Thank you also to Pier Point for a lovely venue and delicious bacon butties, and to the weather for just about holding off until the very end.

The next WITT event will be on 19th November.  Full details will follow shortly, but the announcement of a “bring a man to WITT” to celebrate International Men’s Day certainly caused a stir among the crowd today.  Who will you invite?
